Location Scouting
When it came to locations we wanted to make sure that we use the best setting we could to tell the story. As our story is about a young business man who gets hacked by a cyber criminal
We first looked at cafes that we could use to film in. We thought that this would be an effective location in which our audience would be able to relate too. We know that a lot of young business men work in their free time at cafes however we wanted our piece to look more homely. We thought that having a more homely look would lead the audience into a false sense of security.
In the end we decided on a house that we were allowed to film in. We wanted to create the idea that he was about to go to work in the morning, and was about to catch up on some work at home before he left. We wanted to show that he was relaxed and thought he was safe. The best way to do this we thought was to have the main character at home in a kitchen. The reason we chose to film in this property is that is was light. The wall colour in the location meant that the footage on the camera looked better and that overall the piece would look better.
The second location we chose to use was another house, which had a dark blue room and a good computer setup in. The idea of a hacker being in a dark room makes the whole idea of it a lot more stereotypical and hopefully makes more sense for the audience. The reason we chose this location is that when its dark outside, the room is a dark blue and the computer screens wouldn't light the room back up, this meant that we could have a sort of dark background in. We felt that this was a lot more stereotypical.
